Designed for makers with a foundation in handbuilding, this class introduces a wide range of techniques for bringing greater depth, texture, color, and personality to your work. Explore impressions and mark-making, texture, sgraffito, burnishing, underglaze transfers, washes, watercolor-style underglaze, layered color, and the relationship between glazed and unglazed surfaces. Through demonstrations, experimentation, and hands-on practice, you’ll have the opportunity to try a variety of approaches and discover what draws you in—building a stronger understanding of surface while beginning to develop your own visual language in clay.
